How a typical adult class runs and what to bring
Adult Classes
Adult classes are two hours long and blend traditional training methods with progressive skill development.
- Wear loose‑fitting clothing suitable for exercise.
- Wear flat‑bottom shoes that won’t scuff the floor.
- Class uniform: dark pants and an official school shirt with our logo — order it here and have it shipped to your home.
Class Structure
Classes are generally divided into two one‑hour segments.
Hour 1: Foundations & Solo Work
- Calisthenic warm‑ups
- Stretching and loosening exercises
- Guided footwork drills (walking the horse)
- One‑person hand techniques such as 10 Hooks, 10 Elbows, various hand drills like Moishu, Honshu, Chokshu, and other combination drills
Water Break
Hour 2: Partner Training
- Rolling punches and active blocking
- Horse shifting with a partner
- Distance control drills
- Striking and combination practice
- Two‑person combination drills
- Two‑person forms
- Two‑person free-style hands
Closing the Class (Final 10–15 minutes)
- Two‑person conditioning drills (hook hands, bang arms, roll bamboo, etc.)
- Free‑style hands play
- Group practice of the Three‑Step Arrow Form
Chi-Kung Breathing Class
The Six Healing Sounds
This class guides you through a meditative set of movements and breathing techniques rooted in the Six Healing Sounds practice, as taught by Master Gin Foon Mark. These sounds resonate with the major organs of the body, helping to stimulate healthy Chi (Qi) flow and restore balance from within.
- No experience required — simply follow the instructor
- Designed to gently boost circulation and digestion
- Supports long-term wellness, relaxation, and inner calm
The class is one hour and fully guided. The drop-in fee is $15 per student, with discounted class packs available through our Student Portal.
Kids Classes
With Instructor Andre Balian
Our Kids Classes are designed for students aged 8–12 and offer a fun, structured introduction to Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu. The atmosphere is active and encouraging, with a focus on building discipline, coordination, and confidence through practical movement.
- Warm-ups and flexibility training
- Kicking, punching, grabs, and wrist locks
- Focus pad drills and partner exercises
- Fun challenges and games that build situational awareness
New students are welcome to jump in at any time. No special equipment is required to start.
Taiji Chuan & Push‑Hands
With Instructor Erik Stevenson
In this class, we explore the graceful yet powerful movements of Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan, following the 24 Movement Form developed by Master Feng Zhiqiang. Students gradually deepen their awareness of body mechanics, breathing, and intention as they refine this form.

- Exploration of the four primary energies of Taiji: Peng, Liu, Ji, and An
